Great Expectations
Charles Dickens
In the 17th Century, a six-year-old boy called Pip lived on the
English marshes with his bossy mean sister and her husband. Pip is a good orphan
boy with a nice heart. One Christmas Eve, Pip meets a scary convict who has just escaped from prison. The boy steals food for the man, so he would not starve. A day
later, the man is arrested and Pip never sees him again.
Soon after, in apparently unrelated
events, Pip is asked to play at Miss Havisham's mansion. There, he meets
Stella, Miss Havisham's adopted daughter, who is cold and snobby, but
incredibly pretty. As time goes by, both of them keep playing together and
Pip falls in love with the rich girl, although he knows that he, an orphan poor
boy, would have no chance with the rich Estella, who later goes to London to be
educated as a lady.
A few years later, Pip’s
life is turned upside down. The story grows more and more mysterious. If you want to
know the end of it, you just need to ask one of the monitors from the Lab to take Pip and Stella's tale home with you.
